In Hebrew, with English subtitles. 1999.

A French/Italian production, dubbed into English, with some foreign language pieces having subtitles. Black and white, 1959.

Summary: Until 1933, Kurt Gerron, a Jew, enjoyed national stardom. Forced into exile by the Nazis, he first fled to Paris, and later to Amsterdam, where he became an important director of Dutch cinema. In 1943 he was rounded up in Amsterdam and deported to Theresienstadt. Here he directed his own cabaret, "The Karussell." The Nazis even offered him the chance to make a film about the Jews in Theresienstadt. This video creates a striking picture of this man, and the songs he made famous.

With no common language, they forge a bond that also binds them to their new land. 2002.
