Title: Sugihara: Conspiracy of Kindness

Summary: As Japanese Consul to Lithuania, Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara defied Tokyo authorities by writing transit visas that were the sole remaining hope of Jews facing extermination. Today it is estimated that at least 40,000 people owe their existence to Sugihara's heroism. This video includes personal home movies, photos, and papers from the Sugihara family, and includes interviews with Sugihara survivors and their descendants.

Summary: Operation Solomon, in May 1991, flew Ethiopian Jews to Israel, where the new immigrants had to adjust to a new life. Men who had been masters of their houses (blacksmiths, farmers, and weavers, for example) were reduced to dependence on outside help. Families were divided, village communities broken up, and traditional hierarchies destroyed. Yet these immigrants have adjusted to life in Israel, as this video shows.
